Historical marker commemorating the Condor as the world's first topless and bottomless entertainment venue
1962 postacard with Doda on psychedelic patterned pillow, Doda displays her silicone-enhanced 44D "Twin Peaks."
The club went bottomless (i.e. the dancers began performing fully nude) on September 3, 1969. In 1972, bottomless nude dancing became illegal in California, but Carol Doda continued dancing there topless until 1986.
The Condor club is located at the corner of Broadway and Columbus. The large lit sign in front of the club featured a picture of Carol Doda. The sign had red lights on the image of her breasts. She was the first topless entertainer there and the most famous. Her première topless dance occurred on the evening of June 19, 1964
1850 Union Street Suite 1 (between Laguna St & Octavia St) San Francisco, CA94123 (415) 776-6900
(c. 1946 - )
Her premiere topless dance came on the night of June 19, 1964. Doda performed 12 shows nightly so that management could keep crowds moving in and out. She was 19 or 20 when she first danced at the Condor. Two months after she started the rest of San Francisco's Broadway was topless, followed soon after by the rest of America In 1964 Doda, still in her teens, made international news when a gynecologist injected silicone into her size-34 breasts, adding 10 inches to what would become known as Doda's ``twin 44s and ``the new Twin Peaks of San Francisco.
Doda was a witness during the trial of two all-nude dancers who were arrested for indecent exposure and lewd and dissolute conduct, in 1969. The defendants were dancers at the Pink Pussy Kat in Orangevale, California before Presiding Municipal Court Judge Earl Warren, Jr. The deputy district attorney opposed asking her to perform, considering it irrelevant to the case. He was overruled by Warren. For over a decade, till the late 70's Doda would coo "You're watching the Perfect 36 in San Jose." for television station KICU-TV Channel 36,
Doda was profiled in author Tom Wolfe's 1968 book, The Pump House Gang. She has operated a boutique in Pacific Heights for many years now. A yelp reviewer wrote: "Wise enough to know that it's tasteless for ladies of a certain age to bare their - ahem - souls to middle-aged men with lascivious leers, she opened this shop and filled it with merchandise both demure and risque, but none of it tawdry enough to require wrapping in a plain brown bag. Ladies who aspire to treat their gents to a Doda-inspired - ahem - performance will find a lot of silk, satin, and lace, primarily in jet black and fire engine red, plus a variety of massage oils and other - ahem - accoutrements to help the party along."
Annie M. Sprinkle
POST-PORN MODERNIST: Porn Star and Prostitute turned Sex Guru and Performance Artist and now Queer Advocate for Power of Love
born Ellen F. Steinberg on July 23, 1954 in Philadelphia
For over 30 years, Sprinkle has been baring her ample assets for all the world to see, from the early days in the '70s as fetish adult film starlet to her "Post-Porn-Modernist" days of avant-garde performance art. Sprinkle's work has always been about sexuality, with a political, spiritual, and artistic bent.
Pioneer sexologist, saying what everybody was thinking.
Since turning 38 years old, Sprinkle has been a "Queer" lesbian . Queer is a term associated with the fluid scene in San Francisco where there is a more transgender and bisexual scene and all things are possible including men with vaginas.
"It wasn't till I fell in love that I felt I was a lesbian. After 3500 men I thought I was ready for a change." Sprinkle
Sine the late 90's Annie has been moving from exploring sex, porn and orgasm to an art audience exploring love and ectacy
"People expect me to be doing sex-oriented work but I am doing love-oriented work and that's a challenge."
In December 2005, she committed to doing seven years of art projects about love with her wife and art collaborator, Beth Stephens. They work as an artist couple committed to doing projects that explore, generate, and celebrate love.
" San Francisco is the clitoris of the United States....the City started with wild cowboys and prostitutes, and its a port, I think the water all around it makes it liberal"
Artist and sex educator =
Sex Artist
Masturbation + Meditation= Medabation
"In the 80's there was a debate between Pro-Sex Feminism vs. Anti-Porn Feminism. I think we won."
"It's common sense sexuality, with just a twist of kink. Annie liberated my stodgy thinking about sex and I'm grateful for it! "
I witnessed her "Public Cervix Announcement" and it forever changed my thinking towards sex and sexuality. This book is a compendium in text and photo of her accomplishments. As a pioneer who pushed the boundaries of taste as far as sexuality is concerned, she loosened up Americas inhibitions and in doing so made a place for herself in the world of sex and porn.

Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle

Kimberly on Fox News as a show host appears frequently on panels where she is asked for her view which seems to usually be the same as the "fair & balanced" network's
Her positive view on enhanced interrogation techniques likely has had a negative impact on the campaign to name her as the first Latina Supreme Court Justice [more]

Kimberly Guilfoyle joined FOX News Channel (FNC) in January 2006 as the host of the one-hour crime-based program, "The Lineup," which covers major breaking news including politics and entertainment with an emphasis on legal affairs and issues of the day, and it is the highest-rated cable news program in its time slot. She also currently serves as a legal analyst for FNC.
In 2005, Guilfoyle was named USO Entertainer of the Year. New York City has also awarded her with a "Special Civil Rights Award" in 2004. Guilfoyle is a magna cum laude graduate of University of California, Davis and attended the University of San Francisco School of Law and Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, where she studied and was published for her research in international children's rights and European Economic Community law.
"People v. Noel and Knoller,"
Kimberly is also a former deputy district attorney who prosecuted the infamous 2001 San Francisco dog-mauling case that involved a three-way love triangle with a violent prisoner and prominent lesbian victim. In 2000, Knoller and Noel obtained their two Presa Canarios, named Bane and Hera, through their relationship with Paul Schneider, a high-ranking member of the prison gang Aryan Brotherhood who was serving a life sentence in Pelican Bay State Prison and who were attempting to start a dog fighting business. Noel and Knoller had become acquainted with Schneider while doing legal work for prisoners, and, for some reason, adopted him as their son a few days before the mauling. Two weeks before Bane's fatal attack on Whipple, Noel wrote Schneider in a joking, sarcastic tone, telling of an incident in which both dogs rushed out of the elevator and almost knocked Whipple down, terrifying her.
After Whipple's death, the authorities learned that Schneider had had topless photos of Knoller in his cell, and they also served a search warrant looking for photos that supposedly depicted Knoller and the dogs having sex.
There were erotic letters from the lawyers to the man they now call their son. And there was Schneider's prison artwork, much of it depicting a nearly nude Knoller with the big dogs.
(born March 9, 1969) An American cable news personality including the anchor of The Lineup, a weekend crime show that airs on the Fox News Channel, and was previously an anchor at Court TV and a legal analyst/commentator for CNN and ABC.
Guilfoyle was born in San Francisco to a Puerto Rican mother and an Irish father. She grew up in the Mission District and Westlake and is a graduate of Mercy High School, the University of California, Davis. She received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of San Francisco Law School. She used to be a Victoria Secret model.
Gavin Newsom and Kimberly were married on December 8, 2001 in San Francisco at St. Ignatius Church. The wedding ceremony was officiated by Father Stephen Privett, S.J. who was then president of the University of San Francisco. They had 500 guests at their $232,616.90 reception held at the Pacific Heights mansion of Ann and Gordon Getty. On January 8, 2004, Gavin became the 42nd Mayor of San Francisco, California.
In January 2004, Kimberly moved to New York to work as a legal analyst for CNN. Soon afterwards her husband made a historic decision on February 12th to order the city clerk to begin issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Sharing the same lawyer, on January 7, 2005, Gavin and Kimberly announced their amicable divorce. They said that having careers on opposite coasts led to their divorce. Their divorce was finalized on February 28, 2006 and both have since remarried.
Bleeding Edge
All three of these San Francisco Bay Area woman explored the boundaries of love and sex. As we went to publication on these inspirational stories there was a tempest in the blogosphere about a new SF Mission District business called kink.com which has a porn business model based upon exploring boundaries in the 21st century. Mostly this is character based BSDM or what columnist Matt Smith provocatively called torture.
