Three months pregnant, Adriane Galisteu exhibited for the first time the tummy on a Sunday in January for the technical testing of  Unidos da Tijuca de Sapucaí. The school is the third to parade in the Carnival Sunday (February 14) with the theme "The Secret", developed by Carnival Paulo Barros

The Uniao da Ilha Drum Bateria Queen Bruna Bruno and its Godmother Luciana Picorelli  got some attention from the Carnaval Press for exchanging alleged barbs. When asked how Bruna would handle the attention of the media with such a prominent TV star joining her show, the 6 year Queen said "Two bodies do not occupy the same place in the same space,"
Luciana, actress in the sitcom "Zorra total", would not comment directly on the statement of Bruna and instead talked about the diamonds she was working with to adorn her costume. The school has long been proud of its reputation for fun
and simplicity. Lu is returning to the school she last paraded with in 1994

União da Ilha do Governador

The 2009 theme worked as "Travel is necessary - extraordinary journeys through worlds familiar and unknown" propelled Uniao da Ilha and its queen to Special Samba School League for 2010 after eight years in the Access League. União da Ilha will attempt to remain with and appropriate enredo “Don Quixote de La Mancha, o cavaleiro dos sonhos impossíveis” (Don Quixote de La Mancha, the knight who fought for impossible dreams).
União da Ilha’s best result ever was in 1980, when it came second in the Sambodrome contest with a parade led by the ‘enredo’ (theme) that probably inspired the school’s current image: “Bom, bonito e barato” which means “Good, pretty and cheap”, a typical expression in Brazil used when one refers to a decent bargain.

Valesca Santos, the diva of funk met with the President of the Porto da Pedra, Uberlan de Oliveira regarding repeating as the Queen of the Drum bateria for 2010. During the meeting, the singer pledged to prioritize the school on her agenda, a basic requirement to continue as the queen of the Tigers.

Quite the local media sensation in 2009, Valesca is also known to her music fans “Valesca da Gaiolas das Popuzadas”which translates as the “Cage of the Augmented Buttocks”.  Rio funk music is now played globally by DJs and her songs preach about the liberty and power of the free woman. Valesca  has never posed nude so negotiations with Brazilian Playboy are said to be ongoing. During the Carnaval 2009 season, Valesca was one of the last Carnaval Queens selected. Porto da Pedra samba school did not annouce her selection until after mentioning many tantalizing names at a rehearsal on December 12th. Following the event the newly crowned Bateria Queen embarked on a regimen of daily samba lessons as the cameras recorded her every move getting ready for her debut on the avenue Marques de Sapucai.
