Royalty -Who's who

2010 Carnaval Queen Shayene Cesário is a 24 year old model and law student born in Rio de Janeiro. She first envisioned herself as Queen in 2009 when she entered the relaunched Rio Queen of Carnaval Contest produced by RioTur and achieved her goal on October 9th 2009 at  Rio´s Samba City.

The 12 finalists were judged on: samba dance abilities, overall charisma, sympathy, body elegance and facial expressions by members of the judging panel which included Sidney Rezende, Selmynha Sorrisoz, Viviane Araújo, and actor Davi Pinheiro.

During her reign she will be assisted by the power of three with the two Carnival Princesses: Talita Martins and Suellen Pinto. Returning to reign as King Momo will be Milton Rodrigues

This new Carnaval Goddess was raised in the traditional São Carlos neighborhood and started to parade at the early age of 8 with Estácio de Sá Samba School in Rio. One of her  first high level competitions, outside of  being in her last year of law school, was just in 2009 when she was considered a muse for the soccer team “Botafogo”. Besides a winning samba dance routine she is also a seasoned martial arts practitioner and maintains an amazing physique reported to be  5.74 feet (1, 75 m ) and 143 pounds ( 65 kg). Shayene also been a standout in the São Paulo Sambodromo Carnaval parades whose special big days are just before Rio's Carnaval Sunday and Monday.
