Places to Stay

want to stay in the heart of the party on Bourbon street preferably a Hotel with balconies overlooking the party below.
  • There aren't many places which meet your requirements. In fact, I think only two are really what you're after: the Royal Sonesta and the Inn on Bourbon. If those don't work, the Chateau Sonesta and Bourbon Orleans have balconies overlooking parts of Bourbon but they are not in the middle of the street action, as are the other two.
  • many hotels in the quarter will issue wristbands to guests during Mardi Gras. No wristband, no access to the hotel. And the other poster is right, if all you want to do is party, the 20th-23rd is when you want to be there.
  • There are no notels that have balconies on the parade route that I am aware of. I've been going to New orleans for the past 9 years. This year I stayed at the Hilton on St. Charles Ave. Just a few blocks from Bourbon St. The hotel did have a stand but they charged 75.00 per person per day. I felt it was a little too steep and they should not have charged guests. Good luck
